Valentine's Day & Nunsense

Well, it was a very special Valentine's Day, despite that we had a very busy weekend. I've always loved Valentine's Day, the hearts, the flowers, the stationary, the chocolate... everything. :-) I remember the wonderful parties we used to have in elementary school. You know, cookies, cupcakes, punch, Valentines, it was so much fun! I always loved making my Valentine mailbox. We were so busy that weekend, it was hard to do something. But, Brock made it special. He made me some DELICIOUS heart pancakes complete with strawberries & whipped cream. He also gave me beautiful peach roses; he said red roses are too ordinary. :-) They were beautiful!

Valentine's Day Breakfast

Later, we got my mom from the airport. She was so happy to see her Valentine Baby Grandson! Look at these AWESOME pictures that were taken of them later during her visit.

Gammie with her Grandson

Mom arrived Saturday afternoon, and she came to see me in Nunsense. I have to say, I had a BALL doing that show. Playing Sister Mary Amnesia was probably one of the most fun times I've had in a long time. It was difficult to be away from my son during rehearsals in the evenings, but the ladies I was in the cast with made it all worth it. I LOVE acting with my very good friend, Shari Jacobs. She played Mother Superior. And, I grew closer to the other gals in the show!

Rehearsing final pose at the end of the show. We're all in character!

I had to get a picture of Quin and I in my nun's uniform, known as the habit. He came to 2 out of the 3 performances (not to mention a few rehearsals), and he was taken care of in the nursery. He did great!!
Quin was sleeping, it was a LONG day. :-)

A couple weeks ago, our good friends Jeff, Elizabeth, and Charlie Young came over to spend an evening with us. We had a WONDERFUL time. Quin was born about 5.5 weeks before Charlie, so the boys will get to grow up together through church and our friendship. Liz and I got to go through our first pregnancies together, and now we have beautiful boys together!!! She and Jeff are wonderful friends, and we're so thankful to know them.

Liz & I pregnant in front of their fireplace. What's funny, this was taken the Friday before I checked into the hospital the following Monday to have Quin! In this picture, we didn't know we would have boys! We wanted to be surprised in the delivery room.

Here are Liz and I with the boys in front of our fireplace. I see a tradition in the making!! Quin is aboaut 3.5 months, and Charlie is about 2.5 months in this picture.

Here's one of the boys, their first play date before I had to go back to work after maternity leave. Quin was 12 weeks, Charlie 6 weeks old.

Here is one taken when the Youngs came over about 4 weeks later. Quin's eyes are so wide due to the bright flash in a dark room, while Charlie's are squinted due to the light.

Yay Valentine's Day, Nunsense, and Good Friends!

New Mom

So, I'm a new mom, and I love it. Am I still a new mom? My son is 4-months-old, and time is going too quickly! He is sleeping through the night, which means I feel like a new woman. Quin is more wonderful than I ever imagined. He is a very laid back baby, and Brock and I just adore him.

This blog is really meant to journal about my growing family and share some of Quin's milestones. So much has already happened... He went to the polls for the first time when he was just a few weeks old to vote in the election of a lifetime. Quin made his theatrical debut when he was 8-weeks-old when he was casted at Baby Jesus in our church's Christmas pageant. He was Santa at Christmastime. He was blessed/dedicated during a special Baby Blessing Service. He loves to talk to us and has already had his first foods.

Quin at his Baby Blessing

His grandmother, Gammie, was here the week after Valentine's Day to see me in the musical Nunsense. The show is hysterical, and I played Sister Mary Amnesia. A crucifix fell on my head, and my character didn't remember who she was. It was wonderful having my mom here, and I love watching her with Quin. She watched him while Brock and I went to work. Mom lives in Montana, so the time the spend together is very special. My brother, Joseph, loves him and is so good with him. That is really beautiful to see.

Some things Quinten loves:
Gumming on his fingers, no teeth yet
Cooing and laughing
Getting kissed on the cheek
Mommy & Daddy singing to him
Playing with his feet
Being the center of attention

Some things Quinten dislikes:
Getting into his carseat
Going to sleep, he always fights it!
Wearing hats, which is too bad because he's so cute
